Project brief for a one-vehicle garden team
The client was a local garden service operating from one base in Krugersdorp and using a single work vehicle for quotes, site visits and tool transport. The brief was simple: make the vehicle easy to identify on the road, keep the branding neat, and protect the paint where the vehicle picked up scratches from daily loading and unloading.
They did not need a full fleet rollout. They needed a compact branding solution that worked hard for one vehicle and still looked tidy when parked outside homes, estates and business yards. The vehicle had to carry the business name, phone number and core services without feeling crowded.
- Client type: local service business
- Town: Krugersdorp
- Vehicle count: 1 branded work vehicle
- Main aim: visibility, protection and easy contact details
- Use case: daily travel, tools, garden refuse and site visits
Constraints we worked around
Because the vehicle was used every day, downtime had to be kept short. The team also wanted a finish that would stay legible in strong Gauteng sun and still look clean after dust, water marks and regular washing. On a small business vehicle, the challenge is usually not size but space. There is only so much room for wording before the layout starts to feel busy.
We also checked how the vehicle would be read at traffic lights, outside residential stands and in fast moving traffic. That meant keeping the wording short, using high contrast colours, and placing the most important contact details where they would be seen first.
- Short downtime window
- Limited panel space on a compact work vehicle
- Strong sun exposure and dust build-up
- Brand must read at a distance and at low speed
- Finish had to suit practical cleaning, not just showroom use
What we supplied and installed
We supplied the design and artwork, set out the brand standard for the vehicle, and completed the surface preparation before installation. The wrap package included printed vinyl graphics for the core branding, a clean colour block layout, and protective finishing around the high wear sections. Where needed, we added tinting to help reduce cabin heat and glare during long daytime routes.
The vehicle was prepared by cleaning and degreasing the panels, checking edges and trim, then laying out the graphics for accurate placement. That prep work matters more than people think. If the surface is not cleaned properly, the vinyl will show issues later, especially on vehicles that live outdoors or are washed often. The final result was tidy, practical and easy to maintain.
- Design and artwork for one vehicle
- Surface preparation and panel cleaning
- Vinyl graphic installation
- Window tinting where required
- Finish suitable for regular washing and outdoor parking
Timeline from approval to handover
The full project ran over two weeks from first brief to handover. Week one covered artwork, sign-off and material planning. Week two covered preparation, installation and final checks before release. For a small business team, that timing worked well because it allowed the owner to keep moving without a long break in service.
During the install, we checked panel lines, alignment and the visibility of the contact details from both sides and the rear. The vehicle was ready to go back into service straight after the final inspection. No long wait, no extra fuss, just a neat branded unit ready for the road.
- Week 1: brief, layout and approval
- Week 2: preparation, fitting and final inspection
- Total turnaround: 2 weeks
- Collection and handover done at our Kya Sand base
Results on the road and at client sites
The finished vehicle gave the garden service a stronger local presence without turning the work vehicle into a billboard. It looked more professional when arriving at homes and estates, and the branding made it easier for customers to confirm they had the right team on site. That matters for small service businesses because trust starts before the first phone call is answered.
The protection layer also helped where tools, branches and general workwear contact the bodywork. Less scuffing means less time spent on touch-ups later. It also means the vehicle keeps its value better, which is important when a small business has to watch every Rand. The client wanted something that looked smart now and still held up after a year on the road and that is what we aimed for.
- Improved roadside visibility in Krugersdorp and nearby routes
- Clear contact details for quick repeat bookings
- Better presentation at homes, estates and business sites
- Protection for areas that see daily wear
What we would do again for similar work
For a one vehicle garden service, we would keep the same formula again: clear identity, limited wording and practical protection in the right places. The sweet spot is usually a layout that can be read in three seconds, with enough colour to stand out but not so much that it looks crowded.
We would also recommend the same approach for other local service businesses in towns like Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Roodepoort. Small teams do not need overcomplicated branding. They need a vehicle that shows up well, stays tidy and makes calling them easy. If the vehicle is parked in dust or under harsh sun every day, the materials and prep have to be done properly. Otherwise the finish starts to let you down, and no one wants that.
For future projects we would keep these points in mind:
- Use fewer words and larger contact details
- Match the colours to the business uniform or equipment where possible
- Protect the high wear zones first
- Plan for outdoor parking, not indoor storage
- Allow a short buffer for final checks before release
Project facts at a glance
This was a compact branding job, but the details mattered. The result had to support daily work, local trust and easy contact from people who saw the vehicle on the move. For a small garden service, that kind of visual order helps more than people expect. It makes the business look settled, organised and ready for work.
The project was completed from our Kya Sand base with support from our wrap team and production crew. The vehicle left with a cleaner presentation, better legibility and practical protection where it counts. Small job, yes, but done properly.
